I see a lot of monster hats when I look at Threadless t-shirts. This was one of many that I knew I had just enough time to make. He's pretty simple but still very goofy. And bonus — I could use the black yarn that Threadless cohort Chelly gave me long ago.
I cast on on the knitting loom and decided to try a new brim. This is a broken rib pattern with garter stitch in between the ridges instead of just purls. I knit in the round to the crown, decreased and seamed up the top of the hat. This took about a day here and there.
I made the horns on my flower loom. The first shot on those didn't work, with one looking different from the another. But with some tweaks, he has matching horns now. At first I placed his bucktooth on the hat but decided that didn't look right and moved that down to hang from the brim. His eyes are little black buttons over some white felt. All this took about two nights with the fixes.
Now I just need to find some popcorn and romantic comedy to watch ... and I'm all set!
