Well, originally, I wanted to make a stuffed animal of one of the more adorable designs, but I had just run out of fiberfill. Then I saw this shirt. Then I had the idea to make a hat with tiger ears and a mohawk. It had to happen.
Having only found out about this competition last week, I had to be pretty quick with the project. Thankfully, hats lend themselves to quickness. This one was made with a size I hook and Red Heart super saver yarn in orange, black, and gold. The main part of it was worked entirely in single crochet, with stripes applied randomly every other row or so.
The ideas for everything else came easier then I thought they would. Starting out, I had no idea how I was going to make the mohawk, but after a little thought, I devised the process detailed in the above photos. I also didn't know what I was going to use for the earrings. By luck, I found a bag of key rings that I had stashed in my closet with the rest of my craft things. As for the ears, the "T," and the chain, they were kind of a no brainer. In all, the hat only took four days to make. Four days!
Oh, and I will probably not be wearing this in public. But I'm having plenty of fun wearing it right here.
