I love knitting socks, and when I saw "Wingtips" by Manos Lakoutsis, I knew it would be perfect for adapting into sock form. I used black Malabrigo sock yarn and this funky gold string that I've had stashed away in a drawer for years. I modified a standard toe-up sock pattern and sketched out the design using the t-shirt as inspiration. The hardest part was placing the lightning bolt so that it looked good when the sock was on. My first attempt looked all crooked, so I frogged it and started again. The first sock took almost a month, but once I figured everything out, the second one only took a week. These socks were really fun to knit, in spite of the fact that I probably spent as much time untangling yarn as I did knitting.
