hey!
i saw the announcement of this crazy contest on "subversive yarn" and started browsing the tees. okay, too many, so i searched for animals... and found homewrok evidence, which made me laugh at the screen. i showed my sons who too often have this kind of problem to make some math teacher believe in fantasy stories.
after some sketching it dawned on me that i must make a dogsweater out of my idea. we do have a pretty model for this, too, and she likes to wear the blanket i knitted on her back, so maybe she would appreciate a very special sweater?
this was at the end of november. winter was kind of warm, than, i started knitting the dog shirt in the background colors. x-mas came, and i stitched a chart onto the flat back. then i had to think a lot about the bones and the school stuff and studied some anatomic dog-websides for the right location and the number of ribs (12) and so on. i made a proportional colored pattern on cardboard the same size as the dogsweaters back.
i had to think some more until i came up with the mixed technique i applied to get all the items on the sweater: it is chainstitch and other embroidery and onsewn patches of extra knitted pieces.
two month later, that is today, it is finished and i am so proud that i must show you my first pic! even if it is kind of dark, and not really the best i ever made (i hope to get pictures in the snow this weekend).
hope you have fun with
