When I heard about this contest I knew immediately which design I wanted to use because "Tragedy Struck" (designed by Jack Moore) is insanely cute. At first I was going to make plush toys, which would be pretty awesome, but then I realized I could do some clever things with mittens (i.e., calamitous clapping, horrifying high fives, etc.).
I started by sketching out the color work part and gathering up the right colors of yarn from my collection of odds and ends. Then, using a basic mitten pattern, I knit them up! I started on Thanksgiving day and finished before the weekend was over.
They fit me perfectly (like a glove, if you will) so you may see me wearing them proudly as I'm out and about in Chicago.
