Every time I dawn my "Birds & The Bees" t-shirt, I giggle. The funky design, the clever idea, and the the Bee's expression make the shirt one of my favorites in my closet. I thought the aghast Bee would make a perfect plush. The free-style design of the original Bee translated well with yarn. I started by working in rounds, stuffing the body as I went. The most difficult part in forming the Bee's body was the different widths of the yellow and black bands. I had to crochet some half-rounds of each color and build on that. I then made little black legs that I sewed to the body. The Bee's face was probably the most fun; I made his eyes, mouth, and wings out of felt. The abstract placement of his eyes and mouth makes his face the most fun. The amount of time the flabbergasted Bee took can be estimated by the number of my favorite TV shows I watched while working him out- I think it took somewhere close to six hours from start to finish. The little guy may "bee" one of the most fun things I have ever made.
