This is my most complex project so far. I learned to crochet Amugurumi animals 2 1/2 months ago. I have had lots of fun making a few small items for friends and family so when the Threadknits contest came out I decided to see what I can do.
I went through all the different t-shirt designs and picked out about 10 I liked. Then I looked at them to see if I could represent them in a crocheted item without going crazy. I narrowed it down to two designs and in the end I was able to get a better idea of how to make Stan and his dog so i went with that. I found a pattern online that I modified to make my dragon. I crocheted most of the dragon on Thanksgiving evening and finished him the next morning. I then made the dog - using the same basic pattern modified differently. Once I was done with the basic shapes I referenced the picture again and began making arms, the leash, eyes, nose, beard, mustache etc. Then I sewed those items onto the proper spots and added smiles. I finished both of them on Friday night. Since it was the holiday and I didn't have work I spent a lot of Friday on this project.
I tried not to be obsessive about making it look just like the pic or I would have gone crazy, but I think it is pretty close. Hope you enjoy it and I can't wait to see what other people come up with!
