I gave the duplicate stitch a workout on this project.
After planning out and gridding the design on graph paper, I sat down and knitted the background fabric, a piece of black sockinette stitch. Then came the painstakingly laborious part of stitching OMGNOWAY on. I realized that stitches are not perfectly square like my graph paper, and therefore I would not be able to follow my plan exactly, but I went along with some improvisation, and it turned out alright. From there on it was smooth sailing. I worked another piece of knitting for the back side of the pillow, sewed it up, stuffed it, and voila!
Although I originially intended this to be a blanket, I think it looks great as a pillow, too. Unfortunately, the yarn I chose are pastel colors, so they don't pop out as well as they could. If I had to redo it all (never again...), I would definitely choose brighter colors.
